We endeavor to be a multi-cultural, multi-faceted ministry church impacting the communities within our locale and abroad. We will continually empower families by helping people to understand who they are, live spiritually enriching lives, and give their real transformed selves to the work of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Matthew Jackson has been anointed of the Lord to declare the Gospel.  He has been taught the scriptures from a child.  The hand of the Lord has been evident on his life from a young age.  He was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost before the age of 10.

He is the  first son of Deacon Henry and Mother Patricia Doan.   His siblings include Dorthea, Henry V, Priscilla, and Samuel.  He is blessed to have been happily married to Lady Abby for 30 years.  Together they share 2 sons, PJ (Timothy)  and Maxx (Davida), and 4 gorgeous grand-daughters; Aaliyah, Gabriella, Angelina, and Eliana; and

their One grandson: Myles!

Pastor Jackson has served in various leadership roles in the Business Sector and has a firm experience in management.  Some of the experience includes time at Wards, Value City, Home Depot and Sears.  He has also served in Sunday School and Youth Ministry before faithfully serving as Assistant Pastor of Refuge Temple (and Pastor Seon Thompson) for nearly 15 years.  During this time he also served as Chaplain for Flint-area hospitals.

Known by the Refuge Family as Pastor Jax, he also enjoys time on the golf course to feed his competitive drive and to relax.  Although forever a student at heart, he has graduated locally from Flint Northern and Mott College.

Pastor Jax strives to be a model Husband and Father.  He desires to see souls saved, delivered from bondage, and living in total victory.

Pastor Seon F. Thompson, an anointed visionary founded Refuge Temple Church of Flint in 2004. Refuge Temple Church of Flint was birthed out of much prayer and a specific word from the Lord that “His people needed refuge.” In the first 10 years, the church  flourished in membership.

Refuge Temple Church has grown in apostolic power. Pastor Thompson's vision is for the church to become a multi-cultural ministry touching the communities within the community and abroad. He strives to add knowledge and power to families to produce perpetual effects that promote the best possible quality of life. He focuses on helping people understand who they are, enjoy who they are, and work where they are in Christ Jesus.

Pastor Thompson and his wife, Lady Angela, are devoted examples of Godly-leadership. The combination of Pastor Thompson’s pure God-given anointing, melodic presentation, deep understanding of the Word, and polished delivery has been a staple of his ministry.

Pastor Thompson retired from position Sr. Pastor of Refuge Temple in June 2018.

Pastor Thompson is now Pastor Emeritus of Refuge Temple.
